GS040153 Human Gene Therapy: Basic Science
to Clinical Trial

a basic knowledge of cell biology and molecular biology will be expected;
consent of instructor.
This course is intended to provide a state-of-the-art
survey of the basic science and technology of gene therapy. Examples of
both pre-clinical research and clinical trials will be presented. In addition,
pertinent ethical, regulatory, intellectual property and industrial perspectives
associated with the development of gene therapeutics will be examined.
Classes will be presented by experts in the field from institutions both
inside and outside the medical center. These investigators will discuss
appropriate examples and data from their own studies, providing an excellent
opportunity for participants to become familiar with potential future
mentors.
