Prerequisite: general genetics and biochemistry or consent of instructor; Genetics and Human Disease (GS110013) and Molecular and Cellular Approaches to Human Genetics (GS110023) recommended. Review of genetic variation in human DNA: related terms and concepts, methods for detecting variation including Southern blotting and PCR, methods for analyzing variation, and applications including linkage mapping, DNA fingerprinting and genetic counseling.
