GS110103   Evolution of DNA and Protein Sequences

Rodin, Andrei, coordinator; Fu, Yun-Xin and Hewett-Emmett, David, co-coordinators. Three semester hours. Fall odd-numbered years. Prerequisite: consent of instructor.

The course will provide basic principles for understanding factors that govern the evolution of DNA and protein sequences. Students will be provided with the opportunity to learn the formation and evolution of multigene families and other evolutionary phenomena. They also will be introduced to statistical methods and computer programs for analyzing DNA and protein sequence data.
