ACADEMICS The University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in a variety of biomedical fields, or Individualized Interdisciplinary Studies. In addition to the completion of an approved and supervised research project and dissertation, the Ph.D. degree requires a minimum of 54 credit hours of coursework, while the M.S. requires the completion of an approved and supervised research project and thesis and a minimum of 24 credit hours of coursework. Students form Advisory, Examination, and Supervisory Committees to guide them through their graduate training, and these committees may include faculty from neighboring institutions in the Texas Medical Center as well as faculty level researchers from industry or government. Every effort is made to ensure that students receive adequate but personalized training to prepare them for the career of their choice following graduation.
