MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of The University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical
Sciences at Houston is to train and educate research scientists and scientist-educators,
to generate new knowledge in the biomedical sciences, and to increase
public understanding of science.
The educational objectives are achieved through programs leading to
the Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Science degrees. These academic activities are carried out in research
laboratories and classrooms under the guidance of GSBS faculty members
from the schools of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston,
The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, and the Texas A&M
University Institute of Biosciences and Technology.
The Outreach Program and other public service activities of the faculty
and students of the GSBS are aimed at educating the public about the biomedical
sciences and health promoting an interest in careers in science, particularly
among elementary and secondary school students.
