ORIENTATION
An orientation program will be held during the week of August
before the Fall Semester classes begin for all students who register in
GSBS for the first time in the Spring, Summer or Fall terms. The orientation
program will include a number of sessions designed to provide detailed
information about various aspects of your life as a graduate student in
this School. A final schedule of events will be mailed to you over the
summer.
The formal events will run from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
each day during orientation week. GSBS staff will discuss many academic
topics, such as registration, course/tutorial selection, Program affiliation
and computer facilities. Talks by other campus representatives will focus
on transportation and parking, health and personal needs of students and
social events. There also will be important meetings on health insurance
and employee benefits.
A significant amount of time will be devoted to presentations
by faculty on the wide range of research and programmatic opportunities
available to GSBS students.
All first year students are encouraged to attend as many
orientation events as possible, and attendance is mandatory for some events
(identified on the final orientation schedule when it is available). All
entering Ph.D. students will receive a stipend for the week of orientation
only if they have attended the mandatory orientation events.
