PARKING INFORMATION

Parking is always a consideration for those who drive to the Texas Medical Center. On your first day in Houston, or if you come to the Graduate School to meet with someone in the Dean's Office, you may park in the John P. McGovern Commons Parking Garage and have the GSBS receptionist validate your parking ticket. However, parking is validated only for official GSBS business (excluding classes), so if you plan to drive to school, one of the first things you must do is decide where you're going to park. The principal options are described below.

University Center Tower Lot

• 7000 Fannin and Herman Pressler
• Complimentary student parking is available at UCT for a maximum of 1.5 hours with a valid ID. Present ID at Auxiliary Enterprises Parking Services office in the lobby of the UCT before returning to your car.

Texas Medical Center South Extension Lot ("Brown" Lot)

• Harvin Ave. between South Braeswood and Old Spanish Trail
• $6/day -- $60.62/month
• Obtain a Contract Parking Request from (and signed by) Eric Solberg (BSRB 3.8424) or Jon Wiener (BSRB 3.8451) and take it to the TMC Contract Parking Office (Garage 2, Holcombe and Bertner).

Texas Medical Center Smith Lands Lot

• Avenue N (off South Braeswood) between Greenbriar and North Stadium
• No daily parking -- $60.62/month
• Obtain a Contract Parking Request from (and signed by) Eric Solberg (BSRB 3.8424) or Jon Wiener (BSRB 3.8451) and take it to the TMC Contract Parking Office (Garage 2, Holcombe and Bertner).

SHUTTLE & TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION

MetroRail

• Stops at the Smith Lands lot, University Centers Tower & Dryden/TMC stations.
• Fare is $1.00 each way or $2.00 for a 24 hour pass. Monthly passes are also available.

• Makes several stops throughout the UTHSCH campus.

AFTER HOURS PARKING

Mental Sciences Institute BB Lot (close to M. D. Anderson buildings)

• Off M. D. Anderson Blvd., between the UT-Houston Mental Sciences Institute building and TMC parking garage #10
• $25 per semester
• Purchase hang tag (cash or check) at Auxiliary Enterprises Parking Services in the lobby of the UCT, 7000 Fannin

UT-Houston Professional Building Garage (close to UT Medical School)

• Between Main and Fannin Streets, across from the UT Medical School
• $30 per semester plus $10 non-refundable activation fee for card
• Purchase parking card from the Parking Office located in the garage, Suite G25, on the ground floor across from the Ross Sterling Street entrance

Other Texas Medical Center Lots

• Off Peak Parking in any TMC garage is weekdays from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. and weekends from 4:30 p.m. Friday to 4:00 a.m. Monday; an Off Peak Parking contract may be purchased for $32.48/month plus a $10 set-up fee from the TMC Contract Parking Office in Garage 2 (Holcombe and Bertner).
• Cards for TMC lots, including Smith Lands and South Extension ("Brown") Lots, automatically provide access to any TMC parking garage weekdays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. and weekends from 6:00 p.m. Friday to 4:00 a.m. Monday.
