The Institute of Biosciences and Technology (IBT) is a component of the Texas A&M Health Science Center. The IBT is located on the Texas Medical Center campus together with The University of Texas Health Science Center and M. D. Anderson. It is dedicated to being a leader in biomedical research and biotechnology related to meeting the demands of society for a safe food supply with high health value and for developing technologies for the prevention and treatment of human and animal diseases. In the United States, the institute is unique in its research mission combining medicine and agriculture. Because of its location in the Texas Medical Center, IBT faculty members are able to participate fully in graduate training at The University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS). Consistent with the mission of the IBT, its faculty have a wide range of research interests including animal biotechnology, arthritis and bone diseases, cancer biology and nutrition, genome research, genome informatics, and macromolecular design. IBT faculty participating in graduate education are included in the alphabetical list of GSBS faculty members and their specific interests may be identified with the GSBS search engine. IBT faculty participate in several GSBS Programs and/or provide an interdisciplinary training option. More complete information about the IBT may be found at www.ibt.tamhsc.edu/. |
