Research Interests: Renal cell carcinoma; pathology; carcinogenesis; tissue microarray; molecular biology; protein phosphorylation

My research focuses on understanding the determinants of response and resistance to targeted therapy in patients with renal cell carcinoma. I collaborate with a number of researchers including Dr. Gordon Mills, Dr. Cheryl Walker, and Dr. John Heymach.  The cornestone of our work is the tissue-rich clinical trial, which permits collection of clinical and biological information on patients.  Laboratory techniques used to perform this research include protein tisssue microarrays, reverse phase protein microarrays, gene expression microarrays and a number of serum and plasma based assays.  Tutorials in my lab would focus on the development of a translational research paradigm using clinical trials in conjunction with cutting edge translational research platforms.
