My goal is to understand mechanisms of retinoid-induced prevention of lung carcinogenesis. To address this question, we are examining retinoid signaling events that control the growth and differentiatin of human bronchial epithelial cells. In particular, we focus on retinoid nuclear receptors as agents of retinoid actions.

A tutorial in my laboratory would provide experience in molecular biologic techniques including Northern analysis, PCR analysis, transient transfection assays, recombinant DNA techniques for plasmid construction, and RNA in situ assays. Assays of protein expression including immunohistochemistry and Western blotting are also frequently performed.
