Research Interests:

One major focus of my laboratory is to characterize the positive and negative signaling events that regulate dendritic cell (DC) function in initiating and guiding T cell immune response. In addition, we also actively pursue the study of stem cell self-renewal, lineage commitment and hematopoietic cells development from embryonic stem cells (ESCs) differentiated in vitro. The ultimate goal of our research is to develop novel cell- and gene- based therapies for treating cancers.

Depending on the student’s interests, a tutorial in this laboratory would provide experience in techniques for molecular cloning, retrovirus-mediated gene transfer, gene targeting, transgenesis, gene knockdown using siRNA vectors and microarray/functional genomics. Also provided is a basic training on research design and problem solving skills.
